Councillor Notes
Messages from your ward councillors about the issues
they are dealing with.
Anson Westbrook
We, your local ward Councillors, would like to give
our respects to Anson Westbrook and for the tireless work he did
for Winton over the many years that he lived here. The time and
work he spent as a resident, as a Councillor for Winton East and
his time as Chairman of the Winton Forum was of great benefit
to the local community and without him, the progress made to bring
us the Winton Carnival and change the way Houses of Multiple Occupation
are dealt with in Bournemouth would be setback significantly.
Im sure he would be greatly proud of the
work being done to ensure all residents in Winton are community
driven and involved with solving any problems facing us.
Councillors Theo Stratton, Johann Edwards and Anniina

25 Linwood Road
There will be a meeting of the Council's Planning
Board on Monday the 19th of March 2012 at 4pm in the Town Hall,
to discuss the current planning application for 25 Linwood Road,
about its conversion into a 8 bedsit property. Myself and a deputation
of local residents shall be speaking out against this proposed
application and urge for as many residents as possible to attend
the meeting to show support for this permission to be refused.
There were a total of 22 separate letters of objection sent to
the Council about this property application.
As Ive previously stated, if this application
were to be granted, it would be highly detrimental to both the
town, to Winton and the surrounding roads and Winton Rec. The
Member of Parliament Conor Burns also believes that this property
(owned by Dave Wells) should not be granted planning permission
and the more residents we can muster to show that this is not
wanted, then the greater chance we have of stopping this permission
being granted.

Councillor Theo Stratton
Planning permissions - Linwood and Sedgley
Roads
Planning permission has been submitted for no. 25
Linwood Road and no. 26 Sedgley Road. The application for 25 Linwood
Road is for the conversion of the property into 8 flats, I have
received numerous objections from local residents and as such
have called for this decision to be sent before the Councils
planning board at a meeting yet to be decided.
Number 25 has the potential to be lovely property
next to Winton Rec and for the past decade it has been home to
violence, drug abuse and more. We cannot allow for this to continue,
something that if this planning permission is granted will happen.
For those reasons, and to protect the peace of Winton, I shall
be speaking against this proposed change and ask that, when the
date is announced, as many local residents attend the meeting
as possible to truly show that this is not wanted for Winton.
No. 26 Sedgley Road has applied for permission to
be converted to an House of multiple occupancy. Given the past
history of granting of HMOs in Winton and the recent introduction
of the Council's article 4 directive, I have also called this
in for review by the Planning board.
To be clear, I shall be fighting against both these
applications being granted and hope that in doing so we can continue
to solve the problems that have affected Winton during the past.
Any support will be welcome and I shall be arranging
a meet up with local residents and representatives from Dave Wells
properties to fully discuss the issue of 25 Linwood Road. I shall
post the date and time of the meeting on the forum message board
and hope to have local residents attend.
Regards
Councillor Theo Stratton
