Winton Carnival

Another great day!

The Carnival is now firmly established as the community event of the year. The sun shone for us yet again in 2010 and an estimated 12 - 15000 people enjoyed the day.

Thousands of people lined the parade route and thousands more turned up at Winton Rec to enjoy a variety of attractions and entertainment. New MP Conor Burns even turned up - the first time we've seen a Member of Parliament at the Carnival!

The recession and the credit crunch have made it a difficult time for many people, and our aim was to give you a day when you can forget any troubles and concentrate on having a good time.

We took a number of photos and you can see a selection of them here. See if you can spot yourself!

By the community - for the community

Can you believe it? Thanks to the Winton Community Forum, Winton Carnival is a non-profit event - quite simply a day of fun to promote community spirit for YOU and everybody in Winton to enjoy. Its only aim is to make you feel happy! Isn't that what the world needs a bit more of?

In memory of Kathy

Many people will remember Kathy Goldsmith-Bray both as a teacher and counsellor and as a guiding light in the creation of the Winton Carnival. She died a year ago after a long battle with cancer.

Her son Tim is doing a cycle ride to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care. Her step daughter Miriam is running in the Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

If you remember Kathy or would like to support Macmillan, go to this page. If you'd like to support Cancer Research UK, go to this page.
