If you live in Winton, the community forum is a
way that your opinion can get through and be heard where it matters.
Things are happening in every community every day.
Many of them are insignificant, but some are really important
to specific groups of people.
Frequently the only way these events can be influenced
is by the local councillors who serve the borough and its decision
taking committees.
Getting the message across
The forum is a way that interest groups can get
their message effectively across to those council representatives.
- All of Winton's public services, organisations and residents
are automatically Forum members.
- The Forum works for consultation in as many ways as possible
to gain a consensus on issues.
- It will recommend and in some cases adjudicate where there
is a conflicting interest.
- To ensure democracy, voting at a meeting is limited to a snap
shot opinion and can only become Forum Policy if 50% of all
present support a motion.
- The elected representatives (Councillors) have the last say
legally..... but they are obliged to consult the Forum on all
community issues.
If there is a local issue that affects you - and
you want something done about it ..... contact
the Forum.

Register as a Forum Member
We are currently applying for charitable status
and our application is helped if we can provide a list of members.
Under the existing rules, simply being a resident entitles you
to membership - but we'd appreciate you going one step further
and registering via our online form. It costs nothing and carries
no obligation. In return we plan to email all members with the
latest Forum news etc.
Part of the Bournemouth Community
The Forum seeks to establish the needs of the local
community by organising public surveys and quarterly public meetings,
and works with other organisations to facilitate projects which
meet the identified needs. It aims to improve the quality of life
in the local area and to provide a forum for discussion of issues
affecting the local area, and a link between local people, schools,
local authorities, voluntary and other organisations. It is part
of the framework connecting local people in the decision making
and community priorities of the Bournemouth Partnership.
